When asked about the keynote speaker at their conference many members of staff say that they enjoyed the speech: it was interesting, entertaining, engaging.
But when asked what they’ll take from it back to the business, many draw a blank. And even if they come up with something, it rarely translates into concrete action. So why is that? Some staff will tell you that while the speaker had lots of good things to say, they’re not like them. In other words they can’t relate to the speaker. Perhaps the speaker was a famous sports person, or a celebrity, or a politician; so they think that what they talked about is all well and good for a sports person, a celebrity, or a politician, but not for someone like them. Which brings us to the second most popular reason why no discernable action is taken following a conference: they can’t see how to apply what they’ve learned to their work situation. It’s all great in theory, but they can’t easily translate it into a practical application for their particular circumstances.
When you invest in a motivational speaker, you want them to make a difference to your people and your business. I help you tie the conference threads together, and re-enforce the key messages and themes. I give your people the tools to embrace change, build resilience, take responsibility, build empowering beliefs, and change limiting beliefs.
You want your people to leave the conference feeling energised and empowered, with a renewed sense of purpose, and understanding as to how their individual objectives drive the bigger picture. And when that doesn’t happen, you can feel that you’ve missed an opportunity and wasted a significant part of your conference budget.
I work with you in the run up, to understand what you want your people to take away from the conference. And to ensure you get the best value, I provide you with follow-up materials, which cement the key messages, and help your people to continue to use what they’ve learned in their own roles.
I know what it takes to be successful because I’ve been successful in two different worlds: sports and business. One of my unique strengths is that I can take a sporting analogy I’ve personally experienced and translate it into a practical, business-applicable tool that your people can use. I’m an ordinary person, who’s had remarkable experiences and done remarkable things. When I started out in business I didn’t know that I would become the head coach of a professional basketball team and win every major trophy available. But the goals I set, the choices I made, and the habits I formed have led me to where I am today. I share my stories in the hope that I can inspire other ordinary people to have remarkable experiences and be successful in their lives, whatever success looks like to them.
